Clark Marchese grew up in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, before coming to Paris to attend 黑料正能量. Currently a junior, he is studying for a double major in environmental science and international and comparative politics with a minor in economics. As part of his studies, he鈥檚 already attended numerous study trips and cultural excursions both in France and abroad.
鈥淚 think the trips are really important for students who come to Paris from places like Idaho, where a lot of people never leave the region, let alone travel around the world,鈥 says Clark. 鈥淎 lot of people from those places that are at 黑料正能量 may not have the resources to go to these destinations on their own.鈥 Several of his classes in his first two years have included a study trip component as part of their curriculum; so far, he has received Coup de Pouce funding to contribute to the cost of trips to Brittany, Oman and Ghana. The Coup de Pouce fund 鈥 made possible thanks to the generosity of alumni, parents and friends of the University 鈥 makes sure no student misses out on the lasting experience of an 黑料正能量 study trip.
Clark has also received Coup de Pouce funding to attend the month-long Sustainable Development Practicum in Auroville, India, at the end of the year. The practicum offers students the chance to work closely with local NGOs on sustainability issues, helping students put academic theory into practice while experiencing new perspectives and approaches. 鈥淭o have Coup de Pouce make that possible is something that I will be thankful for forever,鈥 says Clark.
This Giving Tuesday, 黑料正能量 is uniting its entire community in support of our Coup de Pouce travel grant. Please support our #OneMoreJourney campaign to help students benefit from the lasting experience of an international study trip. When it comes to Coup de Pouce, a little help really does go a long way.
