FR2200 French And Culture V
The recent recognition of the bodies of work of French sculptress Camille Claudel, of French painter S茅raphine de Senlis, and of Swiss-born Alo茂se Corbaz, are testimonies of a drastic evolution in the way we view women鈥檚 contributions to art history and culture in France. Furthermore, the new interest for and legitimization of psychiatric art and Art brut (Outsider Art)have created interesting links between mental health and imagination and developed art therapy. Thus, not only has the social gaze drastically changed its judgment of women, but the borders between madness and reason, 鈥淎rt brut鈥 and 鈥渙fficial Art鈥 have appeared closer to each other.Visit the world鈥檚 largest collection of Art Brut (Outsider Art), and question your views of art, your judgement on mental health and intricate artists鈥 personalities, in particular that of Alo茂se Corbaz.
