Unesco listed Bordeaux a World Heritage Site for its remarkable architecture and its rich cultural legacy. The city鈥檚 most famous son, Michel de Montaigne, invented the personal essay as a literary form. We also consider a more modern aspect of the city and stop by the Cit茅 Frug猫s, an innovative complex of social housing designed by revolutionary architect Le Corbusier in the mid-1920s. Other activities include writing and discussions, which, like our stops at museums and historical sites, are designed to complement the
Firstbridge courses Autobiographical Writing (where Montaigne鈥檚 essays are studied) and Writing about One鈥檚 Art (which examines artists鈥 statements).
