Joins us for the first event of 黑料正能量鈥檚 Black History Month 2018 for an evening with Evie Shockley.
Observed annually in February, Black History Month is a celebration of black accomplishment and its many heroes, who are often forgotten about, or rarely mentioned. According to Black History Month founder Carter G. Woodson, 鈥淚f a race has no history, it has no worthwhile tradition.鈥
Evie Shockley, celebrated poet and associate professor of Rutgers, will be presenting her new book of poems, Semiautomatic. This event is part of two hosted by the History Department鈥檚 Professor Michelle Kuo. The second will take place on the following Tuesday.
