Dr. James Waller is the Cohen Professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Keene State College (NH).听The George鈥痑nd Irina Schaeffer Center for the Study of Genocide, Human Rights and Conflict Prevention听is听pleased to be hosting an evening with him to discuss his work on how ordinary people commit genocide and听how perpetrators step back into the community to try and transform the very societies they once tore apart.听
Dr. Waller听has held numerous visiting research professorships, including his current visiting position as Honorary Research Professor in the George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Justice and Security at Queen鈥檚 University in Belfast, Northern Ireland.鈥 In the policymaking arena, Waller is also regularly involved, in his role as Director of Academic Programs with the Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (AIPR), as the curriculum developer and lead instructor for the Raphael听Lemkin听Seminars for Genocide Prevention.鈥 These seminars, held on-site and in conjunction with the Auschwitz-Birkenau听State Museum, introduce diplomats and government officials from around the world to issues of genocide warning and prevention.鈥
Dr. Waller has published twenty-eight articles in peer-reviewed professional journals and contributed twenty chapters in edited books.鈥 The most recent of his four published books is听Confronting Evil: Engaging Our Responsibility to Prevent Genocide听(Oxford University Press, 2016).鈥
