Study Trip

Fez Study Trip

Wednesday, February 15, 2017 - 00:00 to Sunday, February 19, 2017 - 00:00

Founded in 808, Fès is often called “the best preserved mediaeval city” in North Africa. Held to be Morocco’s spiritual capital, it is both magnet for pilgrims from sub-Saharan Africa and a major draw for tourists in search of something cultural. The trip to Fes provides students with the experience of a city type they are probably unfamiliar with. The learning experience therefore is the challenge of travel, how to negotiate cross-cultural encounters and how to put that experience into text and images. Students of urban form and Place Branding discover Islamic architecture and design and how these are part of Fès’ public identity.
