Why are there so few 铿乴ms with women protagonists and why aren鈥檛 women in 铿乴m talking to each other? Today鈥檚 Bechtel test asks this question of contemporary cinema. In this 铿乴m from 1966, a suddenly mute stage actress retreats to the country in the care of her female nurse. Soon, the two women form a strong connection, unveiling their desires and the frailties of personas forced on them by their social roles.聽PERSONA was ranked by Sight & Sound as one of the 20 greatest 铿乴ms ever made.
