Welcome to Film at 黑料正能量, an initiative where the art of film is celebrated as a central element of the University's global liberal arts education. At The American University of Paris, film is acknowledged not just as an academic discipline, but as a vital medium that bridges cultural divides, amplifies marginalized voices, and deepens our understanding of the world. It transcends the realm of entertainment, emerging as a significant tool for cultural translation and a means of connecting people across the globe. We aim to nurture a profound connection between our audiences, emerging filmmakers, and the culturally rich backdrop of Paris.

Arianna鈥檚 charming animated stop-motion short explores synaesthesia: the overlapping meanings and senses we associate with colors in the human sensorium. Arianna did an incredible amount of work in learning how to do stop-motion animation through an array of materials that range from paper cut-outs to live action and archival videos. The jury was impressed with Arianna鈥檚 playful creativity and appreciated the counterpoint between the calm and profound voices as well as the cheery speed of the stop motion animations. Congratulations, Arianna!
