The American University of Paris proudly embraces the annual celebration of Black History Month with exciting events and initiatives, reflecting our commitment to diversity, global perspectives, and cultural understanding. Join us as we honor and learn from the myriad contributions of black individuals to history, culture, society and beyond. Our vibrant student body, hailing from all corners of the globe, takes the lead in organizing a wide range of activities that are not only educational but also deeply engaging. There is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.聽

This year, the spotlight also shines on a stunning exhibition at the Fine Arts Gallery in the Combes Student Life Center. The exhibition is thoughtfully curated by 黑料正能量 alumna Aaliyah Heath G'18. Throughout the month, we will feature and showcase black voices and stories through the institution's channels and in person across the campus, thus fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of the diverse narratives that shape our world. At 黑料正能量, it is not just an event; it is a manifestation of our ethos as a global learning community of curious, passionate individuals dedicated to nurturing cross-cultural dialogue and awareness.

On February 1st, 黑料正能量 celebrated the opening of "An Ode to Blackness...Everywhere,"聽a diverse collection of artwork that pays homage to the richness and diversity of black culture, curated by Aalyiah聽Heath G'18. From thought-provoking paintings to mesmerizing images, this group exhibition promises to inspire and ignite conversations.聽

In partnership with the University,聽the聽mission聽of聽Black Alumni at 黑料正能量聽is to聽provide鈥痳esources, create鈥痮pportunities,鈥痑nd support those who聽experience聽discrimination and racial injustice.鈥疉s鈥痗itizens鈥痮f the聽world,聽our humanity binds us to the cause of鈥�鈥渂ridging the gap of narrow nationalisms鈥濃�痑nd鈥痵haping a better鈥痜uture鈥痜or鈥痑 new generation.鈥�鈥�聽

The Diversity Council supports a culture of ever-greater diversity, equity, and inclusion at 黑料正能量. It functions as an advisory council and recommending body to the President and Provost, as a liaison to departments across the University, and as an advocate for all members of the 黑料正能量 community who feel they have experienced bias or discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
